Sweet & Spicy Tempeh Ribz
If you're looking to try something different and aren't afraid of spice, this dish is for you. Please note: Tempeh is not an alternative. It's a naturally nutritious plant-based food that tastes delicious in its own right. Don't expect this to taste exactly like Ribz, but you'll love it nonetheless.

- 400g Organic Tempeh, cut into thick strips
- 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 crushed garlic cloves
- 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger crushed
- 3 finely chopped spring onions
- 2 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- ½ zested lime
- 150ml vegetable stock
- 1/2 tsp cornflour (Dissolved into some warm water)
- 2 fresh sliced red chillies
- 1/2 lime cut into wedges to serve
instructions
- Heat the tempeh strips in a preheated oven at 150ºC (gas mark 2) for 10 to 12 minutes.
- Prepare the components of the marinade and mix together in a large saucepan. Heat until the liquid starts to simmer and reduce the liquid to a desired consistency. Add a cornflour solution to create a thicker serving sauce.
- Dip the tempeh in the marinade and transfer back to the oven for 30 minutes, turning over regularly.
- Once the tempeh is cooked, finish in the reduced marinade in the pot and simmer until the tempeh sticky and coated.
- Serve up with the fresh chillies and lime wedges.
